Sample Acceptance Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

Enthalpy Analytical, including its affiliate laboratories, may not accept samples for testing if they do not meet the following criteria:

Samples arrive with a complete Chain of Custody (CoC) specifying at the minimum: client’s name and contact information; sampler’s initials; unique sample identification; number of containers for each method; the state and city or full address the samples were collected, date and time(s); requested test methods, matrix, and specific compounds needed on the compound list.
Sample containers are properly and uniquely identified to match the CoC.
Samples arrive in containers that meet the selected method(s) requirements, with appropriate preservation, and within the temperature requirements.
Samples arrive in good condition (not leaking or broken containers), and custody seals, when used, are intact.
Samples must have sufficient volume in the containers to perform requested method(s).
Samples arrive to the laboratory within reasonable time to be analyzed before the holding time expiration.

If any of these requirements are not met, the samples may be put on hold and the client will be contacted for further directions.

If the sample collection time is not provided, the laboratory will use the most conservative time (12:00am of the date provided).

All deviations or anomalies will be described in the report narratives and/or may result in a data qualifier.
